The Energy Department has been formally established and today launches its official website at energy.gov.vin, where information on the generation and supply of energy, the Renewable Programme and the safety of installations across the Network will be published.

The Department's first statement records 412 megawatts of generating capacity serving the Network, a peak demand of 286 megawatts during the transition period and a renewable share of output of 37.7 per cent.

Six projects adding 84 megawatts of renewable generating capacity and 120 megawatt hours of storage will raise the renewable share of the Network's electricity from 37.7 per cent to 60 per cent by 31 December 2030.

About the Department
The Energy Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network is responsible for the generation and supply of energy to the sites of the Velocity Interoperability Network, and for the safety of the installations that use it.
It oversees the five generating stations serving the Network, runs the programme to raise the renewable share of supply, certifies and inspects installations, maintains the register of connections and coordinates the response to supply interruptions.
