Energy Department Publishes Installation Safety Regime and Register of Connections

The Energy Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published the installation safety regime that applies at every site of the Network from establishment. Electrical, gas and heat installations are assigned to one of five classes, each with an inspection interval, and new or altered installations must be certified by the Department before they are energised. At establishment 2,316 certified installations and 148 registered installers were transferred to the Department's registers from member organisations.

The Department also published the register of connections to the Network supply. Eleven connections are recorded: the six principal sites, three generating stations, the accepted connection of the Eastfield Solar Array extension due on 1 December 2026, and an application for battery storage at Central Exchange under assessment. Applications for new or altered connections are assessed in four classes with published target times for a connection offer.

The schedule of planned outages for the period to 18 October 2026 is published from today and will be maintained on this site. Five outages, each overnight and of between four and five hours, are scheduled for maintenance and for the connection of the Eastfield Solar Array extension. Occupants of affected sites are notified by their member organisation at least ten working days before each outage. Faults and dangerous installations should be reported to the site duty officer and to contact@energy.gov.vin.
