The Energy Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Department is responsible for the generation and supply of energy to the sites of the Network, for the programme to raise the renewable share of that supply, for the safety of electrical, gas and heat installations, for the connection of sites and installations to the Network supply, and for the response to supply interruptions and energy emergencies.

With its establishment complete, the Department today launches its official website at energy.gov.vin. The site will carry press releases, official statements, the schedule of planned outages, the registers the Department maintains and guidance on the services it provides. The registers of connections, certified installations and registered installers, transferred from member organisations during the transition period, are published from today.

The Department's first Generation and Supply Statement, the schedule of the Renewable Programme and the installation safety regime are the subject of separate announcements published today. The Department's supply control room at Central Exchange has been staffed continuously since 10 August 2026 under interim arrangements and continues without interruption. General enquiries may be sent to contact@energy.gov.vin.
